🐝🌈 As we look at the four years journey of BEE UNIQUE – we wanted to take you all to the very START of our journey! 🐝🌈

🐝🌈 BEE UNIQUE was created by SEND Parents – Nadia & Dave Parsons, who have two beautiful boys – Dylan and Elliott – The Legacy of BEE UNIQUE! and was launched on the 17th February 2021 with unfaltering support from Natalie & Martin McCarron. 🐝🌈

“We understand the journey families go through and although our journeys are different – we all have a lot in common and thats to do the best we can! Provisions were so low that we wanted to make a difference by raising awareness, educating and creating a safe space environment where families were able to enjoy quality time together and let them know that they are not alone. Having the right support around you makes such a difference. 💓

“The Charity was launched during the COVID pandemic and we were eager to create and grow the SEND Community and provide opportunities in a non-rigid environment with no judgement, and once restrictions allowed – 44 days after the Launch! – we were delighted to start BEE UNIQUEs journey by inviting SEND families COMPLETELY FREE to the place where the idea of BEE UNIQUE all began! at our family home! 💓

“We were amazed and humbled at the response, time slots were being fully booked up so quickly with families travelling from all over Cumbria and we even collected families who weren’t able to drive! This is where we had the privilege of meeting the first BEE UNIQUE SEND Families, some of which have become BEE UNIQUE volunteers. ❤️

“The First Event hosted by us Founders, was a Fun Family Easter Egg Hunt! Followed by Jurassic Park Bank Holiday Bonanza, Pirates of the Solway, Weird Science Day & A Sensory Summer Party! And then we organised the very FIRST CUMBRIA SEND GAMES EVENT, held at Mayfield School – a large family fun day, which was a day for parents/carers to be proud of who they are and that of their children. The day was proudly opened by the Mayor and Mayoress and it was a such an emotional day for us all! Just seeing the happy smiles and everyone simply be themselves taking part in all the activities organised. BEE UNIQUE were delighted to have donated £1,250 to Mayfield School- an amazing specialist school. 🌟

“We didn’t expect BEE UNIQUE to grow at a pace that it did! with businesses struggling post COVID, we reached out to see how we could support one another to try and accommodate as many SEND families as possible. We were delighted to have the opportunity to book exclusive SEND sessions; with us supporting with footfall and BEE UNIQUE fundraising to subsidise the costs per place. 💕

“With BEE UNIQUE being a unique satellite charity, we wanted to bring BEE UNIQUE to other areas where provisions were also low. We organised support coffee mornings across the areas fully funding the first beverage and for families to meet BEE UNIQUE volunteers and what BEE UNIQUE does. ❤️

“We wanted to create BEE UNIQUE for the right reasons, with us having jobs and neurodivergent children of our own, we made the decision that there would be no paid roles, every single penny raised going straight to the charity with no expenses ever taken. BEE UNIQUE is run from the heart voluntarily, it’s not easy running a charity around the chaos of life but we have immense support from Volunteer Reps who continue to support us with BEE UNIQUES mission. ❤️

“It’s been so rewarding seeing families who have met at our organised BEE UNIQUE sessions / activities and forming amazing friendships! Understanding families who become your tribe. 💓

“Since the launch of BEE UNIQUE, we dedicate and donate our free time all year round and are humbled to say we have provided over 2k exclusive sessions catering for over 25k individuals each year. Around the activities & sessions, BEE UNIQUE run family fun days (volunteering 12 hours a day on these) to fundraise for the charity & organise Educational Workshops, Support Coffee Mornings, Support with EHCPs, Guidance, Appeals & Mediation meetings. 💕
